According to the video, Clay Shirky mentioning that this generation has tend to have more and more technologies as people been using it as part of their lives. Shirky also shows that many social networks: Facebook, Twitter, and more, help citizens in repressive regimes to report on real news, bypassing censors (however briefly). The end of top-down control of news is changing the nature of politics. Adding to that, Shirky's speech is to focuses on how Social Media can change people lifestyle by the using decentralized technologies such as peer-to-peer sharing, wireless, software for social creation, and open-source development. New technologies are enabling new kinds of cooperative structures to flourish as a way of getting things done in business, science, the arts and elsewhere, as an alternative to centralized and institutional structures, which he sees as self-limiting. Shirky also gave a brief phrase to remind us that, "We are in a world where most American citizens over the age of 12 share things with each other online."
